Smart City Expo World Congress 2026 – Barcelona

Smart City Expo World Congress is the world’s largest and most influential event for urban innovation, organized by Fira de Barcelona since 2011. The three-day congress brings together more than 25,000 participants, 1,000 exhibitors, and 600 speakers to share technologies, policies, and partnerships that make cities smarter and more sustainable.

From vision to implementation

Since its first edition in 2011, Smart City Expo World Congress has helped cities and regions worldwide become better places to live by bringing them together and showcasing the latest market-ready urban solutions. The event annually brings together leaders from government, industry, and knowledge institutions to discuss complex issues surrounding a new model for cities and societies. The 2026 edition expects representatives from more than 850 cities and 135 countries.

Nine stages, seven core themes

The congress focuses on seven main themes: enabling technologies, energy and environment, mobility, governance and economy, housing and inclusion, infrastructure and buildings, and the blue economy. Spread across nine thematic stages, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and a curated exhibition of market-ready solutions offer insight into the latest trends in urban development. The 2026 edition focuses on scaling up innovation and implementation: the transition from vision to concrete action. As part of the official program, there are also Build Tours: guided walking tours of Barcelona’s own smart city projects.
