JPAN-congres 2026 – Defend Our Data

The JPAN Congress is the annual professional congress of the Young Privacy Lawyers Netherlands, open to both members and non-members. The fourth edition focuses on digital resilience, digital sovereignty, and cybersecurity in a world of geopolitical tension. Various speakers explore the legal and societal challenges surrounding data protection and security in the digital domain.

A growing voice in privacy law

De Jonge Privacy Advocaten Nederland (JPAN) is the professional association for young legal professionals active at the intersection of privacy, data protection, and technology law. The association organizes events, guest lectures, and networking meetings throughout the year and collaborates with partner organizations such as the Dutch Association for Information Technology & Law (NVvIR). The annual JPAN Congress has become the association’s most visible event and attracted participants from the legal profession, industry, government, and academia in previous editions. In 2025, the congress, with the theme Data = Power, took place at ARTIS Amsterdam.

Defend Our Data: digital resilience as a legal issue

The theme Defend Our Data places geopolitical tensions and increasing cyber threats at the center of the privacy debate. In a world where technological interdependence, digital sovereignty, and data breaches are increasingly taking on geopolitical dimensions, privacy law is no longer merely a compliance topic. From multiple perspectives, the conference explores how legal professionals, governments, and organizations can provide digital security in a changing world, and the role the law plays in protecting personal data within this complex landscape. The program includes in-depth sessions with various speakers, followed by a reception.

For whom?

The conference focuses on young legal professionals working in the fields of privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and technology law, including lawyers, legal counsel, privacy officers, compliance officers, and students. Participation is open to both JPAN members and non-members.
