The DEN Community Meet-up is a recurring, interactive gathering where professionals from the cultural sector share practical experiences regarding digital transformation. This edition, organized by DEN and Cultuurloket DigitALL, revolves around futuring: how do you structurally keep up with digital trends and prepare your cultural organization for the audience of 2035?
Learning from each other’s successes and failures
DEN, the knowledge institute for culture and digital transformation, is organizing this meet-up together with Cultuurloket DigitALL. DigitALL supports the digitalization of the cultural sector through donations and knowledge sharing, targeting theaters, music venues, museums, cinemas, festivals, and performing arts producers, ranging from large initiatives to smaller institutions. The gathering focuses on honest stories: where did an organization jump on a new trend at the right moment, and where did they miss the boat? According to the organizers, it is precisely this candid exchange that yields the most results.
Looking forward by looking back
The next generation of culture enthusiasts is growing up in a digitized society and is accustomed to a personal, interactive approach. Futuring, or future exploration, involves systematically monitoring trends and signals and translating them into possible future scenarios for one’s own organization. It is not about predicting the future, but about preparing for multiple scenarios, so that choices can be made today that prove future-proof in ten years’ time. During the afternoon, participants will explore, through presentations and interactive groups, how peer organizations are already responding to new trends and preparing for the long term.
What does the afternoon yield?
Participants will go home with new insights, a few concrete ideas, and a number of new contacts from the sector. The full program with speakers will be announced shortly; registering ensures that participants stay informed. Those wishing to prepare further can attend the in-depth Futuring workshop two weeks prior, which works with four DEN future scenarios for cultural organizations in 2036.
