The National AI & Data Congress is the leading Dutch legal congress on AI, organized by deLex Media in Amsterdam. Led by Astrid Sixma and Menno Weij, the congress offers legal professionals a clear overview of the key legal considerations surrounding AI in a single afternoon, ranging from compliance and privacy to contracts and regulations.
The intersection of AI and law
From automated text generation to data-driven decision-making: AI is changing the way organizations work, raising new questions and points of attention for legal experts, policymakers, and regulators. The conference is chaired by Astrid Sixma, partner and attorney at Kennedy Van der Laan specializing in IT law, AI, and FinTech, and Menno Weij, Tech & Privacy attorney at The Data Lawyers with over 25 years of experience at the intersection of technology, privacy, and AI regulation.
Four legal themes
The program covers four central themes. Compliance & AI: Arnoud Engelfriet (ICTRecht) discusses how organizations remain compliant when using AI. Privacy, Data Protection & AI: Laura Poolman (Kennedy Van der Laan) addresses the (re)use of personal data in AI training and fine-tuning, including web scraping and the use of user data by social media platforms. Contracts & AI: Louis Jonker and Merel Hazes (Van Doorne) provide practical tools for concluding AI agreements and the impact of the AI Regulation. The conference also discusses current case law, including the high-profile British case Getty Images v. Stability AI regarding AI training and copyright.
