DevFest.cz is the annual Google Developer Group conference for the Czech Republic, organized by the volunteer community GUG.cz. The one-day event in Prague combines a broad technical program covering AI, web, cloud, and cybersecurity with a festival-like atmosphere full of gadgets and geek culture.
A community-driven festival, not an ordinary conference.
DevFest.cz is organized entirely by volunteers from GUG.cz (Google Developer Group Czech Republic), as part of the global DevFest series by local Google Developer Groups. Unlike events organized by Google itself, DevFest.cz is a non-commercial, community-driven initiative. The organizers explicitly aim to be more of a festival than a traditional conference, featuring gadgets, geeky fun, and even role-playing elements throughout the venue.
Seven themes under one roof
The program covers AI and machine learning, Android and Kotlin, web technologies, cloud and DevOps, Flutter and Dart, security and open source. Speakers are selected via an open Call for Proposals on Sessionize, with talks of 20 or 40 minutes, exclusively in English to ensure accessibility for all participants. The organization places particular value on diversity among speakers and explicitly encourages underrepresented groups in tech to present.
