The European Congress of Pathology is the largest annual meeting of pathologists in Europe, organised by the European Society of Pathology. The 39th edition will take place in Maastricht, with plenary lectures, symposia, short courses and a trade exhibition. The motto is Pathology: The Picture for Health.
Europe’s largest pathology congress
The congress lasts five days and attracts thousands of pathologists, laboratory specialists, researchers, and doctors in training every year. The 2026 edition had approximately 5,900 participants from 100 countries. The rotating host cities work together with the national pathology association of the country.
Many disciplines
The programme comes from the society’s working groups and covers, among other things, breast, gastrointestinal, lung, skin, blood, and brain pathology, paediatric pathology, and infectious diseases. In addition, there are sessions on cytopathology, autopsy, molecular pathology, quality assurance, and digital pathology.
Formats and themes
You can attend keynotes, symposia, short courses, interactive slide seminars, and oral and poster presentations. Two themes receive a lot of attention: predictive molecular biomarkers in routine diagnostics, and digital workflows with AI in accredited laboratories. Young pathologists receive support through grants and sessions for trainees.
