De Doelen, Rotterdam

The 15th European Nutrition Conference (ENC) is the quadrennial flagship congress of the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS)—the European umbrella organization for national nutrition societies. The five-day event at De Doelen Rotterdam brings together nutrition scientists, dietitians, clinicians, epidemiologists, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond for lectures, symposia, and workshops on the theme “Inclusive Nutrition: Embracing Diversity.” The conference is organized locally by the Netherlands Academy of Nutrition (NAV).

Four years of nutritional science on one stage

The Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) has been the European non-profit umbrella organization for national nutrition societies since 1979, with 26 member societies, each representing one European country. FENS aims to promote research and education in nutritional science and to strengthen the role of nutrition in public health in Europe. Every four years, FENS, together with one of its national member societies, organizes the European Nutrition Conference—the leading European scientific conference in the field of nutrition. Previous editions have taken place in Dublin (2019) and Belgrade (2023); the 15th edition in Rotterdam is organized by the Netherlands Academy of Nutrition (NAV). The Scientific Committee consists of 24 scientists from a wide range of European countries and disciplines.

Theme and program

The overarching conference theme is “Inclusive Nutrition: Embracing Diversity.” This theme recognizes that people have diverse dietary needs, metabolic responses, preferences, and cultural traditions, and rely on different food systems. Therefore, a one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition is not always effective or equitable. The program includes plenary lectures, symposia, parallel sessions, poster presentations, and networking opportunities. Registration opens in late 2026.

Who is the FENS 2027 conference for?

The conference is aimed at nutrition scientists, dietitians, clinical researchers, epidemiologists, food technologists, policymakers, and early-career researchers active in the broad field of nutrition and health.
