RAFA is the leading international scientific symposium dedicated to analytical and bioanalytical strategies for food safety and quality control. The 12th edition is organized by the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (UCT Prague) and Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR). The four-day program includes plenary lectures, abstract presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and vendor seminars on the latest methods and challenges in food analysis.

The International Symposium on Food Analysis and Food Safety

RAFA (Recent Advances in Food Analysis) is a biennial international scientific symposium founded in 2003 by the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (UCT Prague, Czech Republic) and Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR, part of Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands). In the two decades since its inception, RAFA has developed into one of the most respected international conferences in the field of food analysis, with participation from scientists from academic institutions, industry, and national and international regulatory bodies.

Themes and program

The scientific program offers an overview of current trends in analytical and bioanalytical strategies for food safety control. Core themes for the 2026 edition include mycotoxins, plant alkaloids, and other natural toxins; pesticide and veterinary drug residues; PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances); food fraud and authenticity; micro- and nanoplastics in food; artificial intelligence in food analysis; alternative proteins; wearable on-site analysis techniques; and chemometrics and big data. In addition to the scientific program, there are interactive seminars, vendor seminars by industry exhibitors, and a social program.

Who is RAFA 2026 for?

The symposium is aimed at food scientists, analytical chemists, biochemists, researchers, laboratory specialists, and representatives of regulatory bodies and the food industry active in food safety and analysis.
