Masterclasses Weerbaarheid en Veerkracht 2026 (NIPV)

Nederlands Instituut Publieke Veiligheid (NIPV) , Arnhem

The Netherlands Institute for Public Safety is organizing a series of nine masterclasses on resilience and adaptability in the autumn. Professionals from crisis management, fire services, and public safety will delve into the prevention, management, and learning from incidents and crises using current case studies.

About the NIPV

The Netherlands Institute for Public Safety (NIPV) is the public knowledge institute for crisis management and fire services. From their location in Arnhem, they combine research, training, and knowledge events to contribute to a safer and more resilient Netherlands.

Program and content

In the autumn of 2026, nine new masterclasses will start, each with its own central theme on resilience and robustness. Led by editor-in-chief Anja Verheij-Köllmann (WeerbaarNL), prominent guest speakers will share their knowledge and experiences. Confirmed speakers include Professor Michel Dückers (University of Groningen) on the aftermath of the Groningen earthquakes, Maarten van Aalst (Director General of the KNMI) on climate and disaster resilience, Michiel Verlinden (Commander of the Territorial Operations Centre), and Lieke Sievers (former mayor of Volendam). The groups are deliberately kept small: once full, no more registrations will be accepted.

Who is the event for?

The masterclasses are intended for professionals with a role in crisis management, security, or public administration who wish to delve deeper into the resilience and robustness of society.
