Design and craft throughout Lisbon
Lisbon Design Week is an annual city-wide design festival in Lisbon, Portugal, founded in 2023 by Michèle Fajtmann of the British agency From My City. The festival brings together Portuguese and international designers, makers, and artists, focusing on contemporary and collectible design, with a particular emphasis on handmade work and Portuguese craftsmanship. Previous editions have attracted over 250 makers to over 95 locations throughout the city, spread across neighborhoods such as Príncipe Real, Chiado, Marvila, and Belém.
What is there to see and do?
The program includes exhibitions in museums, galleries, and private venues, open studios and workshops, product presentations, talks, masterclasses, workshops, and guided tours. Participants—from established names to emerging talent—present work that showcases the intersection of tradition and experimentation. A permanent feature is the Young Design Generation program, which provides a platform for emerging designers. The festival coincides with the ARCO Lisbon art fair.
Who is Lisbon Design Week for?
The event is aimed at design enthusiasts, creative professionals, collectors, interior designers, and anyone interested in the Portuguese design scene. Admission to most venues is free. The fourth edition in 2026 will further expand the program with new neighborhoods and collaborations.
