The 5th edition of the International Bike & Hike Tourism Conference (IBTC) will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Domstad conference center in Utrecht.

Organized annually by Hicle, this inspiring event brings together destination managers, marketers, policymakers, and tourism entrepreneurs to share insights, generate new ideas, and explore innovative route concepts and proven best practices.

The IBTC launches just before the 2026 Cycling and Walking Fair (Hike & Bike Experience, February 13, 14, and 15) in Utrecht and offers a perfect mix of expert insights on one day and the opportunity to connect with passionate cyclists and hikers at the consumer fair the next.

Theme IBTC 2026

For the 2026 edition, we have chosen the theme “Rerouting Cycling & Hiking Tourism.” The enormous growth of outdoor recreation is putting pressure on many natural areas, which has consequences for both the environment and the visitor experience.

By reimagining and redesigning cycling and walking routes, we can inspire travellers to venture off the beaten track and discover other, lesser-known landscapes.

The big question is: how can route planners, regions, and tourism agencies influence this shift without displacing the problem? And, just as importantly, how do we change habits and encourage people to step outside their usual comfort zones? Join us as we search for solutions to these challenges and pave the way for more sustainable, enjoyable outdoor adventures.
