The 16th edition of the European Pesticide Residue Workshop (EPRW) is the leading European scientific conference on pesticide residues in food. The five-day event brings together over 400 experts from government and private laboratories, regulatory agencies, research institutes, and industry for plenary presentations, poster sessions, pre-workshop courses, and a professional exhibition. The 16th edition celebrates the 30th anniversary of the event, which was launched in the Netherlands in 1996.

30 years of the European expert platform for pesticide residues

The European Pesticide Residue Workshop (EPRW) is the premier European conference for scientists, analysts, and policymakers working on pesticide residues in food and feed. The event takes place biennially and was founded in 1996—the first EPRW was held in Alkmaar, the Netherlands. The 16th edition in Rotterdam marks the 30th anniversary and thus returns to the country where it all began.

Program and themes

The full program spans five days. The pre-workshop will take place on Monday afternoon, followed by a welcome reception. The scientific program from Tuesday to Friday consists exclusively of plenary sessions: keynote lectures, invited speakers, regular presentations, and presentations by young scientists, supplemented by poster sessions and vendor sessions. The theme of the special day in 2026 is “Challenging Pesticides and Matrices.” Other topics include advanced analytical techniques, high-resolution mass spectrometry, quality assurance and laboratory accreditation, toxicology and risk assessment, monitoring programs, regulations, green analytical chemistry, analysis of “novel foods,” and artificial intelligence.

Who is EPRW 2026 for?

The conference is aimed at residue experts, analysts, and specialists from government and private laboratories, public organizations, regulatory agencies, research institutes, food producers and distributors, pesticide manufacturers, and suppliers of analytical equipment and consumables. Participation is exclusively for professionals; over 400 participants from around the world are expected.
