The EU PVSEC is the world’s largest annual scientific conference and trade fair for photovoltaics, and the leading international platform connecting PV science and industry. The five-day, 43rd edition in Rotterdam brings together thousands of scientists, engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders for more than 1,000 presentations covering the entire PV value chain—from materials research to system integration and the energy transition—complete with a comprehensive trade exhibition.

The global science-to-industry platform for solar energy

The European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) has been running for over forty years and is considered the world’s leading scientific conference and trade fair for photovoltaic solar energy. The annual event rotates across European cities to promote geographical diversity and accessibility. The 43rd edition will take place in Rotterdam for the first time in 2026. The city was chosen for its ambitious climate goals, innovative energy projects, leading knowledge institutions, and central location in Europe. The technical and scientific program is coordinated by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.

Program and themes

The conference covers the entire PV value chain: from fundamental materials research and early-stage concepts to cells, modules, applications, and fully integrated PV systems. Recurring themes include building-integrated PV (BIPV), agrivoltaics, floating PV, energy system integration, and the broader role of photovoltaics in the global energy transition. Presentations are reviewed and selected by the Scientific Committee in collaboration with the European Commission. A comprehensive trade exhibition, where companies from the upstream PV sector present their latest technologies, innovations, and concepts, runs parallel to the conference. This exhibition is complemented by an Industry Summit, a Startup Pavilion, and panel discussions.

Who is EU PVSEC 2026 for?

The event is aimed at PV researchers, materials scientists, engineers, manufacturers, project developers, policymakers, and investors active in the global solar energy sector. The 2025 edition in Bilbao attracted more than 1,600 participants from 61 countries, with over 1,000 scientific presentations.
