The 33rd annual conference of the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) is the leading international scientific conference for researchers in reading development and reading instruction. This fourth-year event in Rotterdam brings together reading scholars from around the world for symposia, lectures, poster presentations, and pre-conference workshops focused on publishing, peer review, and grantmaking.
Global meeting place for reading researchers
The Society for the Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) is the international scientific association for researchers focused on reading comprehension and reading development. Its annual conference is the central platform for sharing new research, strengthening international collaboration, and mentoring the next generation of reading scholars. The 33rd edition in Rotterdam is the first SSSR conference to be held in the Netherlands.
Program
Pre-conference workshops, aimed at PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists, will take place on Wednesday, July 15th. The morning session will cover the publication and peer review process; the afternoon session will focus on writing research proposals. The main conference will run from Thursday, July 16th, to Saturday, July 18th, featuring plenary lectures, symposia, oral presentations, and interactive poster presentations. The conference dinner will take place on Friday evening, July 17th, at LantarenVenster, Rotterdam, featuring a culinary tour of flavors from Indonesia, Suriname, Italy, Japan, and Morocco.
Who is the SSSR conference for?
The conference is aimed at scientists, researchers, teachers, and policymakers involved in reading development, reading instruction, and related cognitive, linguistic, and educational issues. Participation is open to SSSR members and non-members. All participants are expected to attend the entire conference.
