30th ESPACOMP Conference 2026

The 30th ESPACOMP Conference is the annual international scientific congress of the International Society for Medication Adherence (ESPACOMP)—the interprofessional association dedicated to research on medication adherence. The two-day event in Utrecht brings together researchers, clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, and policymakers for abstract presentations, the John Urquhart Memorial Lecture, and the Jean-Michel Métry Poster Prize, all focusing on a scientific theme that changes annually.

The international scientific platform for medication adherence

ESPACOMP (European Society for Patient Adherence, COMpliance and Persistence) is the International Society for Medication Adherence—an interprofessional scientific association that, since 1997, unites researchers, clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other professionals to promote high-quality research on medication adherence. ESPACOMP’s mission is to support knowledge dissemination and promote the application of insights into healthcare systems and policy. Well-known ESPACOMP projects include the EMERGE guidelines for reporting medication adherence and the ABC taxonomy for medication adherence.

Program and regular components

The conference program includes lectures, symposia, and poster presentations on the annual scientific theme—which will be announced for 2026. Two regular highlights are the John Urquhart Memorial Lecture, delivered by an invited speaker each year in honor of the founder of the field, and the Jean-Michel Métry Poster Prize, a jury award for the best poster presentation, with the winner receiving free registration for the next edition.
