The 15th International Harbour Masters’ Association (IHMA) Congress is the premier international professional conference for port masters and maritime operations managers. This fourth-year event, held at Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam, brings together professionals from over 50 countries for plenary sessions, workshops, and a technical port discovery session on emerging technologies, sustainability, and port resilience.
International professional platform for port captains and maritime operations managers
The International Harbour Masters’ Association (IHMA) is the global professional association for harbour masters and all those with managerial responsibility in maritime port operations. With members in more than 50 countries, the IHMA promotes safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally friendly shipping operations in ports worldwide. The congress is held biennially and is the central meeting place for the international port industry.
Program and themes
The conference will span four days. Early registration and booth setup will take place on Monday afternoon, June 8th. The program runs from Tuesday, June 9th, to Thursday, June 11th, with three days of conferences focusing on the themes of “Emerging Technologies” (digitalization, AI, drones, data standards such as S-100), “Sustainable Together” (decarbonization, alternative fuels, green operations), and “Resilient Ports” (safety, talent development, diversity, international cooperation). Each day of the conference will conclude with networking opportunities: a reception at Rotterdam City Hall on Tuesday, an exhibitor reception on Wednesday, and a gala dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre on Thursday, including the presentation of the IHMA awards. A technical port escape will follow on Friday, June 12th, with a visit to Portlantis—the advanced port simulation and research facility in the Port of Rotterdam—followed by a boat trip back to the city with lunch.
Who is the IHMA conference for?
The event is aimed at port masters, deputy port masters, port CEOs, maritime operations managers, policymakers, scientists, and suppliers of maritime technology and equipment. Participation is exclusively for registered professionals.
