World Energy Congress 2023

4 dec. '23 — 7 dec. '23Rotterdam Ahoy, Rotterdam

The 26th edition of the World Energy Congress has been brought forward from 2025 due to the increasing importance of energy transition worldwide and will take place at Rotterdam Ahoy from December 4-7, 2023.

The theme of the 26th World Energy Congress, Redesigning Energy for People and Planet, emphasises that there has never been a more critical time for leadership in energy. The Congress will explore the role of connected energy societies in driving forward global energy transitions in today’s less predictable, more turbulent and faster shifting world. The event in Rotterdam Ahoy aims to put people, their evolving needs, and the planet at the heart of global energy transitions.

In the wake of multiple once-in-a-lifetime energy shocks, there has never been a more important time for the conversations and connections that will secure new possibilities of better energy.

From 22-25 April 2024 more than 7,000 international energy stakeholders will convene in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Marking the beginning of the centenary of the World Energy Council, this most prestigious and influential global event, hosted at the highest political level, will welcome leaders from all corners of the world as they come together to enable solutions and deliver impact under the theme ‘Redesigning Energy for People and Planet’.

The Congress, which was established in 1924 in London, has since become a grand platform for the global energy sector, with an overarching objective of promoting sustainable and secure energy for all. The 2023 edition is ”Redesigning Energy for People and Planet” and will explore the role of connected energy societies in driving forward the global energy transition.

Rotterdam is an ideal host city for a such grand-scale event, due to its frontrunner position in the European energy transition. The city and the port facilitate various innovations and projects that contribute to the goal of becoming a climate-neutral city by 2050.
